• Adverbial Clause
Like a single- word adverb, an adverbial clause
describes a verb ( in the sentence’s main clause ) and
answers one f these questions : Where? Why? How?
When? To What Degree?
An adverbial clause begins with a subordinating
conjuction, which makes the clause subordinate (
dependent).
Type of
adverbial
clause :
• adverbial clause of time (waktu)
• adverbial clause of place (tempat)
• adverbial clause purpose (tujuan)
• adverbial clause of manner (cara)
1. When ( Time)
When do the flowers bloom? When spring arrive.

When spring arrives, the flower bloom.

2. Why (Reason)

• Why did the poor woman have no money? Because she had lost her job

• The poor woman had no money because she had lost her job

• Where is the container located? The investigator finally knows
the location

• The investigator finally know where the container is located

• How did he answer the question? As if he knew the subject quite well

• He answered the question as if he knew the subject quiet well
