BRIDGE INVERTER:
INVERTER OPERATION(open
loop):
• The conversion of DC to AC is called as Inverter.
• The circuit is shown in the above
• There are six switching devices with anti parallel diodes(IGBT’s)
and these devices here are voltage source rectifiers because they
have bidirectional Current flow and unidirectional blocking.
• There are three legs and each leg consist of two devices.
• Each leg has two devices ,the upper device complimentary is
given to the lower device and the sine wave with 0 phase shift
and a carrier is given to the Relational operator which compares
and gives the result which is given to the upper device.
• The process is same with the second and third leg but the phase shift
for second leg is -120 degrees and -240 degrees for third leg.
• The mid points of three legs are given to measure the line
voltages(Vab,Vbc,Vca).
• The output varies from +Vdc to –Vdc.

RECTIFIER OPERATION:
Operation:
• The circuit shown is three phase three wire system.
• The basic operation principle of VSR consists on keeping the load dc
link voltage at a desired reference value using a feedback control loop.
• This reference value should be high enough to krep the diodes of the
converter blocked.
• Once this condition is satisfied, the dc link voltage(actual voltage ) is
compared with the reference voltage(Vref).
• The error signal is generated from this comparision and this is used to
generate a template.
• This template could be a sinusoidal waveform.
• The sinusoidal waveform of the template is obtained by multiplying I
template with a sine function, with the same frequency of the ac mains
and with the desired phase shift angle.
• Once the template has been generated a modulation method is required
to produce PWM pattern for power values.
• There are many methods of modulation, the most popular is so called as
sinusoidal PWM(SPWM) Which uses a triangular carrier to generate
PWM pattern.
• Changing the pattern of modulation ,modifies the magnitude and
displacing the PWM pattern changes the phase shift.
• The PWM pattern will switch the power values to force the input currents
to follow the desired current template (Iref).
• In this way the Current flows from the ac to dc side and the capacitor is
charged.
