INTRODUCTION
English is the language that has been patented into a second language by
almost all countries in the world. Existence English itself can’t escape from our
everyday lives. And without us knowing it, it requires in-depth discussion so
that everyone can understand and use English with well. Among the large
amount of material that must be addressed to learn English tenses is the main
material to be dominated by each person.

Such material is the basic material that most people consider it trivial. Tenses
itself consists of various types, among others Simple present tense, Simple Past
Tense, Present continues tense, Present Perfect Tense, Simple Future Tense,
Past Future Tense and much more.

However, in this paper, we will only discuss about one tenses, namely simple
future tense which is a basic tenses to learn.
Simple Past Tense is a phrase used in the English language that precisely used
for the sentence that has happened or the past.

UNDERSTANDING
THE SIMPLE PAST
TENSE

Simple Past Tense is a phrase used to express a


sentence past or events that have occurred, Examples
of past tense sentence is an incidence of 1 hour ago,
yesterday, a week ago, and the events that had
occurred.
FUNCTION:
It is used to express an action/event which was done in the past, or an
action/event/situation which happened in the past. It is also used to
express an action/event which could (possibly) or might (probably)
be done in the past, or an action/event/situation which could
(possibly) or might (probably) happen in the past.

CONCLUSION

The simple past is a verb tense that is used to talk


about things that happened or existed before now.
Imagine someone asks what your brother Wolfgang
did while he was in town last weekend.
The simple past tense shows that you are talking
about something that has already happened. Unlike
the past continuous tense, which is used to talk
about past events that happened over a period of
time, the simple past tense emphasizes that the
action is finished.
