Groundnut Harvester and Thresher
Groundnut Harvester and Thresher
UNDER GUIDANCE OF
Prof. MAYUR SHELKE
ABSTRACT
For a developing country like India to make progress it is
necessary that agricultural and industrial progress should take
place head to head.
In India, most of land use for agricultural purpose which
produces semi-finished product or goods. Around 65% of
people depend on agriculture as a main occupation.
Groundnut also one of the agricultural semi-finished goods.
Groundnut is grown on small scale farmers in developing
countries like India.
Since ancient times farming is done manually which causes
lesser productivity and more time requirement.
The time has come to modernise our farming process so that
productivity can be increased.
INTRODUCTION
Among the many fast growing cash crops, groundnut is always
sought after by small farmers. But the major hardship in
growing this crop is harvesting.
Harvesting and threshing of groundnut are the most important
and labor intensive operations in groundnut cultivation.
During Harvesting the fields need to be made wet the previous
day with scant irrigation, so that the soil becomes loose and the
plants along with the pods can be pulled out easily from the
soil.
Once plucked, the pods need to be stripped from the shell.
Stripping the pods is a traditional practice done either by
removing the pods manually or hitting the bunches with the
help of rods.
Lack of groundnut processing machines at affordable cost, is a
major problem of groundnut production.

WORKING OF THE PROPOSED MODEL
The groundnut combine with the following components should perform the
desired functions.
1. The harvester for penetrating into the soil to the required depth and
digging out the groundnut crop with pods.
2. Picker conveyor pick up units of sufficient width to allow for picking and
conveying the dug outcrops with pods from the soil surface.
3. Collection chamber for collecting the crops with pods conveyed by the
picker conveyor.
4. Belt conveyor to convey the collected crop from one end of the harvester
to other end.
5. Elevator for elevating and feeding the conveyed crop with pods from the
belt conveyor into the feeding chute of threshing unit.
6. Feeding chute to regulate the flow of crops conveyed by the elevator into
threshing cylinder.
7. Thresher cylinder for separating the pods from the vines of groundnut
crops.
8. Blower for blowing out the chaff and dust particles after the threshing
operation.
