There are two types of waterjet cutting

Water

titanium

• Glass Processors cut

ducting and general fabrication

• Composite manufacturers use

carbon fibre, Kevlar and plastics

• Automotive manufacturers cut

head linings, carpets, acoustic
foams and interior trims

trims for prime movers

• Construction firms use

Many applications – One Tool
• Flooring manufacturers
use waterjet cutting
rubber and decorative
entrance mats

• Gasket Manufacturers cut

rubber, neoprene, cork
and aluminium

• Defence equipment
builders use waterjet for
profile cutting armor
plating, weaponry and
bullet proof glass
How does waterjet work?
Abrasive waterjet cutting is
essentially an accelerated
erosion process

Ultra High Pressure water is

fired through a ruby or
diamond orifice into a
“mixing chamber” which
creates a vacuum and draws
garnet sand into the water
stream to create an extremely
powerful and versatile cutting
tool
The best quality edge…
Edge quality is one of the
key reasons why engineers
and fabrication prefer
waterjet

• No additional edge
treatment

• No Dross

• No grinding and dressing

of edges

• No contamination

• Ready to weld
Edge Quality…

Coarse Medium Fine Extra Fine

Edge quality is a function of speed,

pressure, nozzle size and abrasive
flow rate

Striation marks are caused by the

bend in the water stream
An efficient and cost effective process
Waterjet is
recognized as an
efficient and very
cost effective
process for
cutting a wide
range of
products
No hardened edges
Profile cutting of metals with hot
cutting processes such as oxy, laser or
plasma causes a “tempered” or heat
affected zone on the edge of the plate

If your processes require the edges of

components to be machined after
cutting, the “tempered” edge caused
by a hot cutting process means that
machining these areas can be very
slow and creates high wear on cutting
tools.

Waterjet cutting is a cold process

which does not change the original
state of the material
Short Set up Time
Waterjet quickly adapts to cut
almost any material with minimal
adjustment

No tooling changes required – one

cutting head cuts all types of
material
