SCOPE
Soils subjected to compression loads, decrease in volume
(consolidation) and this is due to water and air in the voids starting to
escape.

 Objectives
General:
 Determine the speed and degree of settlement that a sample of
saturated clay soil will experience, as well as some increases in load
or pressure, in a given time interval.
Materials

 Unaltered sample, which is contained in a shelby tube.

 Blade.
 Balance
 Vernier calibrator.
 Ring consolidation
 Spatula and containers for moisture testing.
 2 porous metal stones
 Fixed ring consolidation capsule.
 Consolidometer.
 10. Loads of 1.5, 3, 6 and 12 Kg.
Preparation of the sample/ Proccess
TEST

 Consolidation coefficient for a load of 1/8 [Kg / cm2]:

 Consolidation coefficient for a load of 1/4 [Kg / cm2]
 Consolidation coefficient for a load of 1/2 [Kg / cm2]
 Consolidation coefficient for a load of 1 [Kg / cm2]
 Consolidation coefficient for a load of 2 [Kg / cm2]
 Consolidation coefficient for a load of 4 [Kg / cm2]
 Consolidation coefficient for a load of 8 [Kg / cm2]
