INTRODUCTION
 Autonomous car is an automated or autonomous capable of
fulfilling the main transportation capabilities of traditional
car without human input.
 Suggested by forbe magazine as one of the five most
discruptive innovation of 2015.
 Autonomous vehical has enormous potential to allow for
more productive use of time spent in the vehical and to
reduce crashes,pollution,cost of congection,energy
comsumption.
DEFINATION
 Autonomous means having the power of self-government.
 National highway traffic safety administration has created a five
level hierarchy to help to clarify the concept of autonomous
vehical.
 Level-0:-the human drivers control all component of car.
 Level-1:-one function become automated.
 Level-2:-more than one function become automated.
 Level-3:-driving function is sufficiently automated.
 Level-4:-the car is self-driving.no need of driver.
TECHNOLOGY USED
 Various technologies work in conjuction to each other to
make car autonomous.
1. LIDAR sensors.
2. RADAR detector.
3. GPS.
4. INS.
5. Electromechanical system.
6. Software and algorithm.
LIDAR (LIGHT
DETECTOR AND
RANGING)
LIDAR is remote
sensing
technology that
measure distance
by illuminating
target by laser
and analyzing
reflected light.
1. Laser (600nm-1000nm).
2. Scanner and optics.
3. Photodetector and receiver electronics.
4. Position and navigation system.
 Radar is a use of radio wave to detect
and monitor various objects. RADAR (RADIO
 Automotive radar system is the 77GHz DETECTION AND
domain are used in the car. RANGING)
 There are two primary method:-
1. The direct propogation method
2. The indirect propogation method
GPS (GLOBLE POSITIONING SYSTEM)
 GPS is a space based satellite navigation system that
provides location or time information anywhere on the
earth.
 The current GPS consist of three major segment.these are
space segment(ss),a control segment(cs),a user
segment(us).
 All satellite are broadcast at the same two frequencies
1.57542GPz and 1.2276GPz.
INS ( INTERNAL NAVIGATION SYSTEM)
 INS is nevigation aid that uses a computer, motion sensor
and rotational sensor to continiously calculate
position, orientation and velocity of moving object without
the referance.
 Includes computer,gyroscope and accelerometor.
 Initially used in spacecraft, airplane and ship.
ELECTROCHEMICAL SYSTEM
 Eletrochemical system used to manipulate the steering,
trottle and braking system of the car by receiving
instruction from the computer.
 These system employs the use of solid state relay for
switching purpose.
 Servo motors for gearing purpose,
 And pneumatic and hydraulic control for breaking.
SOFTWARE AND ALGORITHMS
 Various software and algorythms are used in autonomous
car one such technique is SLAM which is abbreviation
simultaneous localizing and map building.
 Used for solving a problem as to if it is possible for
autonomous car to start in an unknown location in unknown
enviroment and then an incrementally build a map of the
enviroment while simultaneouly using these map to
compute absolute vehical location.
WORKING
EX. GOOGLE DRIVERLESS CAR
ADVANTAGES
 Alliavation ic collision.
 Roadway capacity will be increases.
 Higher speed can be set in autonomous car.
 Alleviation of parking scarcity.
 Smoother ride.
 Increase human work efficiency.
 Removal of constraint on the user of cars.
DISADVANTAGES
 High cost
 maintainence
CONCLUSION
 Future of transportation and mankind.
 Very useful.
 Pollution free.
 Echo friendly.
 Will be available in india 2020.
