This document describes a student project to design and build a multi-purpose machine capable of drilling, cutting, and grinding. The machine aims to perform these operations simultaneously using a single motor and centralized power source, reducing costs compared to separate machines. It allows multiple processes to occur at different workstations at once. The proposed design has a main shaft powered by a motor via pulleys and belts to drive operations like grinding, drilling, and cutting from different ends or positions on the shaft. The goal is to increase productivity while conserving electricity and floor space in industrial applications.

ABSTRACT This machine is developed and fabricated for the purpose of “MULTI PURPOSE MACHINE”. Industries are basically meant for production of useful goods and services at low production cost, machinery cost and low inventory cost. Today in this world have been made quicker and easier by making use of technology advancement but this advancement also demands huge investment and expenditure. Every industry tries to achieve high productivity maintaining the quality and standard of the product at low average cost. This machine perform multipurpose operations i.e., CUTTING, GRINDING and DRILLING. At the same time with required speed and this machine is automatic which is controlled or operated by motor which run’s with the help of current. Optimization of machining processes is one of the most important elements in the planning of metal parts production. We have developed a model of machine which would be capable of performing different operations simultaneously, and it should be economically efficient. The model facilitate us to get the operation performed at different working centres simultaneously, as it is getting drive from single power source. The machine proposed in this project can perform tasks like cutting, grinding and drilling at single work station. It also reduces the cost of installing three different machines for performing each task and reduces the movement of work and operator. Objective of this model are conservation of electricity (power supply), reduction in cost associated with power usage, increase in productivity, reduced floor space. PROPOSED MODEL MAIN COMPONENTS
Frame Cutter
Bearings Hacksaw Blade
D.C Motor Grinding Wheel
Drill tool Pulleys
Drilling Chuck Other Components
Operations Performed By The Machine
Drilling Cutting Grinding WORKING
In this model of “Multi-Purpose Machine” we are giving power supply to the
main shaft, from the motor by pulley-belt arrangement. Grinding wheel is mounted on one end of the main shaft and other end is provided with drilling. The power from the main shaft is transferred to the secondary shaft, whose one end is fixed with cutting. Electrical energy is given to the motor, which converts it to mechanical energy and is used to perform the operations.
