Global Warming is the increase of Earth's
average surface temperature due to effect of
greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide
emissions from burning fossil fuels or from
deforestation, which trap heat that would
otherwise escape from Earth.
The true cause of global warming is our
thoughtless attitude to Nature.
Due to the warming of oceans, sea level will rise. Glacier
ice will also melt, causing further rise in sea level. As a result
in the 21st century sea level will rise from 9 to 88 cm. Such a
rise will submerge many parts of countries.
Crops and forests may be affected by more insects and
plant diseases.
Seasons will be longer in some areas.
Storms are expected to be more frequent and intense.
Some regions of the world would become dry.
Weather patterns would be less prediclable and more
extreme.
OZONE LAYER DEPLETION
Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and
other halogenated ozone
depleting substances (ODS) are
mainly responsible for man-made
chemical ozone depletion. The
total amount of effective
halogens (chlorine and bromine)
in the stratosphere can be
calculated and are known as the
equivalent effective stratospheric
chlorine (EESC).
