Types of control valve:

Control Valve:
• A Control Valve is a power-operated device used to modify the fluid
flow rate in a process system.
Classification:
• Multi-turn valve (linear motion valves):
The closure member has a linear displacement generally by turning its
threaded stem several times.
This operation is slow, but it gives accuracy and stability to position the
closure member, which is necessary in some control valves.

Types of valves: Gate valve, Globe valve, Fixed cone valve, Needle valve
and Pinch valve.
• Quarter-turn valve (rotary valve):
The closure member as well its shaft turn 0º-90º; from the fully-open
position to the fully-closed position.
They are quick opening/closure valves.

Types of valves: Ball valve, Butterfly valve, Plug valve, Spherical valve.
Linear Motion:
• Types Of Closure
• Diaphragm
• Pinch
• Globe
• 1.1. Single Seated
• 1.2. Double Seated
• 1.3 Three way
Features:
• TORTUOUS FLOW PATH
• LOW RECOVERY
• CAN THROTTLE SMALL FLOW RATES
• OFFERS VARIETY OF SPECIAL TRIM DESIGNS
• SUITED TO HIGH-PRESSURE APPLICATIONS
• USUALLY FLANGED OR THREADED
• SEPARABLE BONNET
Gate valve:
• Debris Build up
• Seal erosion
• Prone to leak
• No obstruction
• Gate valves are often used in the petroleum industry.
Gate Valve :
Single Seated Globe Valve:
• Features
• Large amount of force required to drive the stem
• Tight shut off
• Used in small diameter applications
• Applications
• Used for controlling large range of process
parameters hence used in oil and gas
production, power generation
Double Seated Globe Valve:
• Features
• Stem can be driven with small amount of force
• Can not achieve perfect closure resulting in
leakage
• Used in larger diameter applications
• Body parts wear out due to erosion and
cavitation which results in annoying noises
Applications.
• Used for controlling large range of process
parameters hence used in oil and gas
production, power generation
• Application
• Used for high flow and high pressure services
Three Way Valves:
• Features
• High flow capacity
• Valve used for mixing and diverting liquids.
• High rangeability
• Leakage capability consistent with normal single
seated globe valve
• Application
• Used in textile industries
Diaphragm Valves
• Features
• Consists of a saddle or seat upon which the
diaphragm closes the valves
• Can handle corrosive fluids.
• Applications
• Used as shut off valves in food and beverage ,
pharmaceutical and biotech industries
Pinch Valves:
• Features
• Tight shut off
• The flexible sleeve allows the valve to close drop
tight around solids , solids that would typically be
trapped by the seat or stuck in crevices in globe,
diaphragm, butterfly, gate or ball valves.
• Application
• Best used in controlling corrosive fluids and
steam.
Rotary Motion
• Types Of Closure
• Ball
• Butterfly
• Plug
• Rotary Valve Features
• STREAMLINED FLOW PATH
• HIGH RECOVERY
• MORE CAPACITY
• LESS PACKING WEAR
• CAN HANDLE SLURRY AND ABRASIVES
• FLANGELESS
• INTEGRAL BONNET
• HIGH RANGEABILITY
Ball Valve :
• Features
• Tight Shut Off
• Minimum obstruction for the flowing media.
• High flow capacity o Can withstand high
pressure and temperatures
• Application
• Used for hazardous and corrosive fluids
• Shut off operation
Ball Valve:
Butterfly Valve :
• Features
• High flow capacity
• Unlike ball valve the disc is present in the flow of
the liquid and hence a pressure drop is always
induced in the flow.
• Tight shut off
• Application
• Used in Steel , Sugar and textile industries
Plug Valves:
• Features
• ON/OFF operation
• Quick closure
• Absolute shutoff requirements can be
addressed by double-isolation models.
• Application
• Gas pipelines
• High temperatures and pressures
• Lethal, toxic and sub-zero fluids
