THE

NERVOUS
SYSTEM
SCIENCE P6 (6A)
The systems of organ in our body:
• Skeletal system
• Muscular system
• Digestive system
• Respiratory system
• Circulatory system
• Nervous system
• Urinary system
What have you known about
Nervous System?

• Do you know the function?

• Do you know its main parts?
• Do you know how it works?
What is new?
Central •Brain
nervous
system •Spinal cord

Peripheral •Nerves
Nervous
system
Nerves…. Receive
information from
our senses
Sensory nerves
Send the
information to
our brain

Nerves
Receive
messages from
Nerves are spread all our brain
over our body to Motor nerves

There are more than information to

So…. How does our
nervous system work?
Spinal

Sensory Spinal Motor Response

Reflex action
• Very fast response
• You’ve done the action even before your brain know
about it.
• It happens because an involuntary and nearly
instantaneous movement in response to a stimulus.
• A reflex is made possible by neural pathways which
can act on an impulse before that impulse reaches the
brain.
• The reflex is then an automatic response to a stimulus
that does not receive or need conscious thought.
Common Ilnesses of the Nervous System
are …
a. Alzheimer’s disease b. Epilepsy
c. Huntington’s Disease d. Migraine

e. Multiple Sclerosis
c. Parkinson’s Disease

d. Poliomyelitis

e. Stroke
How to care for the nervous system?

• Cope with emotion

• Have a balance diet
• Write regularly
• Avoid using drugs, alcohol and cigarettes
HOMEWORK!
1. Mention the three (3) main parts of the nervous
system!
2. What is the function of each part?
3. Mention and explain briefly about the two functions of
the nervous system!
THE
URINARY
SYSTEM
SCIENCE P6 (6A)
• Urinary system works as FILTER in our
body.
• It removes excess fluids and waste
substances from blood.
• The extra fluids go out from our body as
URINE.
The four main parts of the urinary system …

A.Kidneys
B.Ureters
C.Bladder
D.Sphincter
E.Urethra
The function of each part …
• Kidneys  Clean our blood many times a day and
balance the amount of liquid in our body.
• Ureters  The tubes that transport urine down from
kidneys to bladder.
• Bladder  Stores urine.
• Urethra  Urine flows out from our body through
urethra.
If urinary system fails to function...
• Waste substances in blood (that we absorb from the
food/drinks we consume) won’t be filtered out.
• The waste substances will become toxic for our body and
harm our body.

• Urine color:
–Pale/bright yellow  hydrate (Your body has enough liquid).
–Dark yellow  dehydrated (Your body needs more liquid).
How to care for the URINARY system?
• Have a healthy lifestyle
(diet, no smoking, rest, exercise regularly)

• Have a good hygiene

(keep your private area clean)
Urinary system works together with …
Digestive system and Circulatory system.
• Nutrients from our food are absorbed by blood vessels.
• The nutrients then are transferred to all body parts.
• Besides transporting nutrients, blood also carries waste
substances that will be sent to the kidneys.
• The blood is cleaned and again, transported to all body parts.
• The kidneys then remove the waste substances, then …
