REACHING

TOWARDS THE GOAL!

(SPIRIT OF SUPERNATURAL ACCELERATION)
ACTS 2:1-4 (NLT)
On the day of Pentecost all the believers were
meeting together in one place. 2 Suddenly, there
was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a
mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where
they were sitting.3 Then, what looked like flames
or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each
of them. 4 And everyone present was filled with
the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other
languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this
ability.
PHILIPPIANS 3:12-16 (NLT)
12 I
don’t mean to say that I have
already achieved these things
or that I have already reached
perfection. But I press on to
possess that perfection for which
Christ Jesus first possessed me.
PHILIPPIANS 3:13-14 (NLT)
13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have
not achieved it, but I focus on this one
thing: Forgetting the past and looking
forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on
to reach the end of the race and
receive the heavenly prize for which
God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
PHILIPPIANS 3:15-16 (NLT)
15 Let
all who are spiritually mature
agree on these things. If you
disagree on some point, I believe
God will make it plain to you. But
16

we must hold on to the progress

we have already made.
INTRODUCTION
1. Supernatural Acceleration – is
the power of God applied in your
life, your ministry, your time & your
circumstances to bring His plans to
pass at a much faster rate than
humanly possible
INTRODUCTION
2. When the Spirit of God was
poured out in Acts 2:1-4 in the day
of Pentecost, quick & radical
growth began to happen.
3. There is always speed when
there’s power.
I. THE SPIRIT OF SUPERNATURAL
ACCELERATION WILL CAUSE US TO REACH
OUR GOALS. (PHILIPPIANS 3:12-14)
A. We should not let anything
take our eyes off our goal –
knowing Christ.
B. We must lay aside everything
harmful & forsake anything that
may distract us from being
effective Christians. What is
holding you back?
I. THE SPIRIT OF SUPERNATURAL
ACCELERATION WILL CAUSE US TO REACH
OUR GOALS. (PHILIPPIANS 3:12-14)

 Paul’s goal is to know

Christ, to be like Christ.
 This goal absorbs all
Paul’s energy.
II. THE SPIRIT OF ACCELERATION WILL CAUSE
US TO FORGET WHAT WAS BEHIND.
(PHILLIPIANS 3:13-14)
 When they stoned
Stephen & dies other things
that they were ashamed.
But because their hope is
in Christ, however, he can
let go of the past.
II. THE SPIRIT OF ACCELERATION WILL CAUSE
US TO FORGET WHAT WAS BEHIND.
(PHILLIPIANS 3:13-14)
a. Don’t dwell in your past, instead grow
in the knowledge of God by
concentrating on your relationship with
him now.
b. Realize that you are forgiven & then
move on to a life of faith & obedience.
c. Look forward to a fuller & more mere
meaningful life because of your hope
in Christ.
III. SPIRIT OF ACCELERATION WILL CAUSE US
TO MATURE. (PHILLIPIANS 3:15-16)
- Paul uses “Perfect” – it means mature or
complete, not flawless in every detail.

a. Those who are mature should press on in t he

Holy Spirit power, knowing that Christ will
reveal & fill in any discrepancy between what
we are & what we should be.
b. Christians maturity involves acting on the
guidance that you have already received.
III. SPIRIT OF ACCELERATION WILL CAUSE US
TO MATURE. (PHILLIPIANS 3:15-16)

c. Live up to what we already know &

live out what we have already
learned.
d. We do not have to be side tracked
by an unending search for truth.
- But because there hope is in Christ,
however, he can let go of the past.
IV. SUPERNATURAL ACCELERATION WILL
CAUSE US TO REACH OUR GOAL & WIN THE
PRIZE (1 CORINTHIANS 9:24-27)
A. It requires purpose and discipline.
Christian life takes hard work, self
denial & strenuous preparation.
B. Christians running toward our
heavenly reward thru prayers, bible
study & worship quip us with vigor
and stamina
1 CORINTHIANS 9:24-27
24 Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs,
but only one person gets the prize? So run to
win! 25 All athletes are disciplined in their training.
They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but
we do it for an eternal prize. 26 So I run with
purpose in every step. I am not just
shadowboxing. 27 I discipline my body like an
athlete, training it to do what it should.
Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I
myself might be disqualified.
