Indian Council Act 1861;


The Indian councils act was introduced because the British government wanted to
involve the Indian people with the process of law making.
Indian council’s Act 1892:
It 1892-It enlarged functions of legislative council.

Muslim league 1906:


 Why was Muslim League formed?
 To Protect the rights of Indian Muslims.
Minto-Morley reforms 1909:
Who was minto?
Who was Morley?
Increased the size of legislative council both at the central and provincial level.
Communal representation for the muslims by accepting the concept of separate
electorate.
Indo-Pak History

 Lucknow Pact 1916:


 The main clauses of the Lucknow Pact were: There shall be self-
government in India. Muslims should be given one-third
representation in the central government. There should be separate
electorates for all the communities until a community demanded for
joint electorates.
 Montagu–Chelmsford Reforms 1919:
 to introduce self-governing institutions gradually to India.
 The provinces were to follow the Dual Government System or Dyarchy.
 These Reforms were rejected by the both parties.

Revolutionary Phase

 Simon Commission 1927:


 Simon go back!
 They wanted to pass constitutionalist reforms.
 7 members.
 Headed by John Simon.
 why the Simon commission came?
Nehru report 1928:
 India should be given Dominion Status with the Parliamentary form of
Government with bi-cameral legislature that consists of senate and House of
Representatives.
 Judiciary should be independent from the Executive.
 • There should be 1/4th Muslim Representation at Centre.

3rd June Plan 1947:


 This was also known as the Mountbatten Plan. The British
government proposed a plan announced on 3
June 1947 that included these principles: Principle of the
Partition of British India was accepted by the British
Government.

Objective resolution 1949:
 The Objectives Resolution was adopted by the
Constituent Assembly of Pakistan on March 12, 1949. Prime
Minister, Liaquat Ali Khan, had presented it in the
assembly on March 7, 1949.

 Constitution of Pakistan 1962: 240 articles,12parts,3schedules.
 Constitution of 1973: Bhutto gave Pakistan 1973 constitution.
 It consists of 280 articles and 7 schedules with Objective Resolution forming the preamble of
the constitution beside 20 amendments which have been made since then.
