WELL-WRITTEN TEXT
BY GROUP 13.
PROPER MECHANICS
> Refers to the convections of writing which
includes capitalizations, punctuations, spelling,
numerals, abbreviations, acronyms and contraction.
> Term we use to describe the technical aspects,
such as spelling, punctuation, capitalization, etc.
PARTS OF SPEECH
• Knowing the parts of speech, using them
correctly, and understanding how they
relate to one another. Each part of speech
plats a key role in sentence structure and
clarity of the thought of a paragraph.
CAPITALIZATION
• To begin with a capital letter, you need
to consider if it is a proper noun, the
first letter of the first word in a
sentence, title or heading and
abbreviations and acronyms.
GRAMMAR
• Affects the clarity, can add authority,
enhance meaning, and creates a more
sophisticated voice. Also the speech or
writing judged by how well it follows the
rules of grammar.
PUNCTUATION
• Are marks such as periods, question marks,
exclamation points, etc. They make writing
look more organized and easier to read and
understand. They tell you how to read a line
and where to pause or breathe.
SPELLING
•Make sure you are
consistently using one
standard with regard to the
spelling of your words.
