1 Wich of the customs in the article are similar to, or the same as, customs in your country?
In Peru we celebrate individual birthdays, national holidays similar to Mexico, and we love receiving gifts of
any color.

We are careful with the topics of conversation like people of U.S.A. and we say goodbye personally or in
group.

2 Wich of the customs are different?

In Vietnam they celebrate all birthdays in New Year, but here, we celebrate the New Year as a National Holiday.

 Daniel: yes, it was awful! The place was empty! I had only about ten people. Where
were you?
 Fabricio: Oh, I went to the Tatiana party. It was great!
 Daniel: really, where was he?
 Fabricio: It was in that new club, Jc's. It had been a lot of people and the place was
crowded, and it had a very lively atmosphere. Everyone was talking, laughing and
dancing.
 Fabrizzio: it sounds fun.
 Jose: yes, it was. There was even a band playing live music. It was really loud, but they
had another room with soft music so you could talk, and there was a very relaxed
atmosphere.
 Fabrizzio: Hey, Jose, did you go too? I was sick last night, I was in the hospital, the place
was empty, they told me fast.
 Daniel: Oh that hurts ... Well, Saturday is the faculty party we have to go. The event will

NOW WE WILL DO QUESTION C.
 Read these two paragraphs. What is the topic each one?

how to be friendly at a party

 remember that everyone else is there to meet people, too!
whether the party is lively or more relaxed, you can usually
find a quieter place with soft music where you can talk to
people. introduce yourself to someone and start a
conversation, ask what he or she thinks about the music, or
how he or she knows other people at the party

steps to make a surprise party to
your friend
 First of all, ask yourself if the person would really like a
surprise party. Not everyone enjoys loud music and crowded
places! Then decide who you can trust to keep the party
secret. It’s better if only a few people know about the party
in the beginning. Make a list of guests, but don’t send out the
invitations immediately.
