Yelp
Yelp is an app that allows anyone to leave reviews for business places that they
visit. These reviews help people find the best businesses to support and find new
great places to explore. From the best sushi place all the way to the best place to
get a haircut, Yelp is great for finding the right place to go.
Features
The Yelp app includes a variety of features, some commonly used features are:

● Finding trending and great restaurants in your location, you can search new places near you and
yelp will also notify you of new places or ones that you have never been to
● Ordering food for delivery, pick-up, or making reservations, this can be done through the app when
searching a restaurant that allows any of the above
● Having access to thousands of reviews for thousands of different places so you know what to
expect
Who is the intended audience?
The intended audience is “real people”. People who like exploring new places and sharing the world with others. Yelp’s
main goal is to get real and honest reviews so that people can learn about a business through the application rather than
taking a chance on a new place and ending up with a poor outcome.
How does it fit into the characteristics of
social media?
Yelp fits into the characteristics of social media because it allows its users to
participate in an online community by leaving reviews of local businesses they try
out. It allows them to share not only words but photographs as well.

Adopting this social media is a great way to ensure that you are able to
find a great places to go without actually having to try out every place. It
avoid many possible strike outs and provides many great experiences.

● Writing honest and helpful reviews for others
● Sharing personal experiences and giving others a taste of what theirs might be

I do use this app, quite frequently. It is great to know what to expect before hand so
that you can find a truly great business to go to where you know you are getting
the most out of your dollar and experience there.
