INTRODUCTION

 Sniffer is basically a TRANSCEIVER that works in special

frequency range.

 For the detection of lost mobile SNIFFER plays a vital role.

 Sniffer device has to be designed precisely and size should be

reduced for easy mobility for the purpose of detection.

IMEI
• IMEI Stands for INTERNATIONAL MOBILE EQUIPEMENT
IDENTIFIER.

• Each Mobile device has globally unique IMEI

• It contains 15 digit code.

• IMEI number is transmitted and checked against a data

base of black listed or grey listed phones in the
network’s EIR (Equipment ID Register), if match found
then the network can perform different actions.

• The sniffer for the mobile includes

following important concepts. They are
a) Design of a sniffer base station
b) Design of unidirectional antenna
c) Software that is used for tracking the
lost mobile phone’s IMEI number

Unidirectional Antenna
•Antenna is a device which works at
specified frequency range for
transmitting or receiving the data
signal.
•Acts as the eyes of the sniffer for the
purpose of the detection.

• Easy to design
• Low power consumption

 DEMERITS
• Initial setup cost more(But can be gradually reduced when
effectively and efficiently utilized for the purpose of
detection).

FUTURE SCOPE
• By considering certain boundary conditions like power of
the mobile, placing of the mobile away from shadow can
be developed by using advance technologies and devices.
