 The goal of authentic assessment is to determine

if student knowledge can be applied outside of

the classroom.

 This means that a physics assessment should

involve doing physics by performing experiments
and solving problems the same way that a real-
life physicist would.

 An authentic history assessment requires

students to ask questions, do independent
research, and formulate answers to their
questions, just like a real-life historian does
 Authentic assessment is the measurement of
"intellectual accomplishments that are worthwhile,
significant, and meaningful, "as contrasted to
multiple choice standardized tests.

 Authentic assessment can be devised by the

teacher or in collaboration with the student by
engaging student voice. When applying authentic
assessment to student learning and achievement, a
teacher applies criteria related to “construction of
knowledge, disciplined inquiry, and the value of
achievement beyond the school.”
 It evaluates the student collective skills to
perform and demonstrate the task in real
world situation for them to determine how
much they have learned with meaningful
application.

 In other words authentic assessment, the

student is exposed to the real world
situation to perform his tasked with the
best of his skills and abilities.
 1. Authentic assessment require the students to perform
meaningful task in real world situation

because the evaluators including self and peer have to think
wisely and precisely the rating most appropriate to the
student’ performance from excellence down to poor.

 3. It tenders direct evidence of application and construction

of knowledge of skills acquired. For instance, the student
demonstrates and constructs on paper mosaic projects made
of waste papers or old magazine.

 4.It includes portfolio collection of entry

 5. It demonstrate application of a particular knowledge and

skills
 6. It foster role playing of the lessons learned by
students which serves as show window to them.

 7. It identifies performance of the students’

acquired skills and expertise .

 8.It assesses directly holistic projects by multiple

human judgment like self, peer, subject teacher,
and teacher adviser.

 9.It train the students to evaluate their own work

as well as their peers.

 10.it is designed on criterion-referenced

measure rather than norm-referenced measure.
The strength and weaknesses of the students
have been identified rather than compare
students’ compare with other students.
 Authentic assessment, in contrast to more
traditional assessment, encourages the
integration of teaching, learning and
assessing. ... In the authentic assessment
model, the same authentic task used to
measure the students' ability to apply the
knowledge or skills is used as a vehicle for
student learning.
