Multi task
• Single user perform multiple task at a time.
• Micro soft windows and apple mac OS allow a
single user to work on multiple programs at
the same time.
• Most modern personal computer and laptops
are single user multi tasking operating
system.
MULTI USER:
• Allows multiple users to access the computer at the
same time.
• Operating system manages memory and resources
among the various users according to the
requirement.
• Task of one user will not effect the task of other.
• Examples: UNIX, LINUX, mainframe OS etc.
Difference:
Single user Multi user

• Provides a facility to only one

user at a time.
• Single user single task OS and
single user multi task OS are
two types.
• Simple.
• Ex: windows Apple Mac Os.
• Provides a services and
resources to multiple
user at a time.
• Time sharing OS and
distributed OS are some types.
• Complex.
• Ex: UNIX LINUX
