 Introduction To Switchboard
Department
 An electric switchboard is a device that directs electricity from one source to another
source.
• It is an assembly of panels, each panels contains switches i.e. circuit breaker which
directs electricity to users end.
• A switchboard is a unit of X no. of panels which contains protective devices &
measuring devices.
• The role of a switchboard is to control/ protect & measure the flow of the power.
• It is available for a rated voltage from 3.3kV-33kV.
 A Switchboard forms an important link in the distribution chain of power, from its
source of generation to its end user. It controls the flow & distribution of power
from a central place. The simplest form of Switchboard is found in our homes –
the board on wall on which the switches for fans & light are mounted. Its
complexities span across medium and high voltage boards used industrials set-ups
for power distribution. It usually consists of circuit breaker inside it – Switchgear,
which makes & the breaks circuit as and when required. One of the major
applications of Switchboard is in the distribution of electric supply in cities,
industrial centers or electricity boards like Maharashtra State Electricity Board
(MSEB).
 Literature Review
Mr. Gratiela Dana from North University Baia Mare,in his paper presented in a
concrete way a study regarding the application of the concepts in a real
organization which builds its business success on the phenomenon called
knowledge The Kaizen management is dedicated to the improvement of
productivity, efficiency, quality and in general of business. The Kaizen method
acknowledged as method of improvements applied to key processes will generate
the major of company’s profit, while constituting a secure way to obtain the
clients loyalty and fidelity. The Kaizen management represents a solid strategic
instrument, with a view to reach and surpass the company’s objectives.

Adam Paul Brunet and Steve New from Oxford, UK reports the study of
kaizen as practised in a selection of Japanese companies. The paper describes the
methodology of the study, and presents findings from the research, taking
Nippon Steel Corporation (NSC) as a base model and comparing this with the
data from other companies. The development of kaizen activity in NSC is
presented together with a description of the current nature of kaizen, which is
compared with other firms in the steel and automotive industries to assess
uniformity. The paper concludes that kaizen evolves uniquely within each
organization, following changes to the organization’s business environment.
Detailed implementations vary considerably between organizations, but all
rely on kaizen to achieve targets as an integral element in the operations
management system. This yields insights into Kaizen’s sustainability, and
points to its vulnerability to external economic conditions.
 Problem statement

1. The main problem is that Nameplate

fixed by workers with bare hands is not
perfectly aligned.
2. So the extra rework increases and that
increases production time.
3. And the wastage of materials as well
because if once sticked while removing it
Nameplate can get damage.
4. Once it gets scratch mark it can no
longer be used.
 METHODOLOGY
Why does the need of fixture arises.
1. Improper alignment of nameplate.
2. Wastage of nameplates.
3. Increase in production time.
4. Requirment of skilled worker.
5. Acuraccy can’t be given during placement on door.
Material Consideration:
The selection of material is based on the following considerations:
1. It should have enough strength to bear the load Should have a good surface
finish.
2. It should possess good weld ability.
3. It should withstand rough handling.
4. It must be readily available & economical.
After considering all the available materials, the one most appropriate in terms of
the above mentioned factors was the METAL SHEET.
