History of IBM
IBM (International Business Machines
Corporation) is an American multinational
technology & IT Consulting company.
The company originated in 1911 as the
Computing-Tabulating-Recording
Company (CTR) and was renamed
"International Business Machines" in 1924.
In 1930, Attendance Recorder, time clock
made by IBM's International Time Recording
division.
In 1944, MARK-1 is the First Automatic
Digital Computer which was made by
Howard Aiken who was Prof. of IBM And
Howard University.
In 1956, IBM introduces the world's first
magnetic hard disk Drive for data storage.
In 1957, IBM developed the FORTRAN
(FARMULA TRANSLATION) Scientific
Programming Language.
In 1974, IBM engineer George
J. Laurer developed the
Universal Product Code.
In 1976, the first IBM 3800 printer is installed.
The 3800 is the first commercial printer to
combine laser technology and
electrophotography.
In 1981, IBM Launched Personnel computer
into the market, in which the DOS (Disk
Operating System) was used.
IBM has been present in India since 1992.
