MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES

 Architect Umali narrates his experience in his previous Resort Development in Calauan, Laguna.
One structure of the development was hit by Typhoon Glenda. According to him, the roof was
swept off. That was the time he encountered an Act of God. He reviewed his designs and
specially, the structural plan. According to a structural engineer his client hired, there was a
problem with the structural plan. The client almost sued him but he stand firmly and confidently
because he knew his plan better, there is no problem.
MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES

 After few months, the client did not file a case. Instead, he was contacted by his client once again.
He earned his client’s trust.

 For him, Acts of God is the most memorable.

 It is very common for him to bump into a gentle client on the first meeting and becoming ill-

 Architect Umali gives himself a break for months or years if it not healthy anymore. He plays golf
as a stress reliever.

TIPS FOR ARCHITECTS AND STUDENTS

 Patience is most needed from being a student until you reach your design practice
 Do not just accept a project with a chaotic client. Ask the client if he discussed the project with
other architects.
 Enjoy your projects.
 When it comes to design, clients wants something that is impossible for an architect. There are
cases that clients wants a design but is beyond the architect’s service. Try to convince an the
client because you know better because you are the designer.
