¿What is oktoberfest?

celebrated between the
months of September and
October in the Bavarian city of
Munich since 1810. It is the
largest popular festival in
Germany and one of the
largest in the world, with
average annual visits
exceeding six million of visitors
¿When and where is celebrated?

It lasts from 16 to 18 days, starting on

the first Saturday after September 15.
It is celebrated in the field known as
Theresienwiese in the vicinity of the
center of Munich, near the Central
Station. In other countries it is
celebrated in the main cities
History

The first Oktoberfest was held from

October 12 to October 17, 1810 to
celebrate the marriage of Prince Ludwig
I of Bavaria with Princess Theresa of
Saxony-Hildburghausen. The celebration
consisted of a horse race.

After the success of the first celebration,

the festival is still celebrated and its
beginning was advanced to September
to take advantage of the milder
weather of this month.
