REVIEW OF

ENGINEERING DESIGN
Data Sources and Survey Data :

• Topographic Survey

 Topographic Map
 Water Source Location and Elevation
 Route of the Transmission Line
 Storage Facilities
Data Sources and Survey Data :

• Location of natural and man-made features

affected by or to be considered in the project
design

 Roads
 Waterways
 Houses
 Schools
 Churches
 Public markets
 Other landmarks
Data Sources and Survey data :

• Existing water and sanitation facilities (including

drainage structures)

• Hydrographic data - springs and probable surface

water sources; including water quantity and quality

• Review of drawings, specifications, design

documents (design report, if any)
 Civil/Hydraulic Engineering Drawings
 Mechanical, Sanitary and Electrical Engineering
Drawings
 Structural Engineering Drawings
 Project Implementation Schedule
Data Sources and Survey data :

• Check and Review Quantity Estimates

• Evaluate Unit Cost Estimates in comparison with

other cost items in similar, adjacent water supply
projects in the Province/Region.

• Review of Technical Specifications - giving

particular attention to availability of materials
within the locality and the appropriateness as to
the type and complexity of the proposed water
system.

• Apply Value Engineering in the evaluation of the

Detailed Engineering Design.
Required Documents for Design Review:

• Project Location and Vicinity Maps

• Recommended Water Supply Development Plan
showing:
 Water Source(s) & Location(s)
 Reservoir/Storage Locations
 Transmission Line Route
 Water Treatment Facility (if any)
 Distribution Network
 Location of Communal Faucets

(The development plan should be in scale and

elevations should be indicated).
Required Documents for Design Review:

• Schematic Lay-out of the Proposed Water Supply

System.
• Plan/Lay-out of Existing Facilities (if any, in
scale also indicating elevations.
• Plan/Map of the proposed service area (showing
relative location of water source, land-use plan
and/or zoning plan of the LGU.
