    Aaron Siskind was an American photographer born in 1903 in New York City. He began his career as a documentary photographer with the New York Photo League in 1932. In 1951, he joined the faculty of the Institute of Design in Chicago, where he became head of the photography program in 1961. Siskind was involved in the abstract expressionist movement and was known for manipulating his photographs to create new meanings and images within existing photos. He had a long career as an influential photographer before passing away in 1991 at age 87.
