Ultrasonic Servo Connection Applications

Sensor Motor Diagram
• Arduino is an open-source platform used for building electronics projects. Arduino
consists of both a physical programmable circuit board (often referred to as a
microcontroller) and a piece of software, or IDE (Integrated Development Environment)
that runs on your computer, used to write and upload computer code to the physical
board.
• The Arduino platform has become quite popular with people just starting out with
electronics, and for good reason. Unlike most previous programmable circuit boards,
the Arduino does not need a separate piece of hardware (called a programmer) in
order to load new code onto the board – you can simply use a USB cable. Additionally,
the Arduino IDE uses a simplified version of C++, making it easier to learn to program.
Finally, Arduino provides a standard form factor that breaks out the functions of the
micro-controller into a more accessible package
ULTRASONIC SENSOR
• As the name indicates, ultrasonic sensors measure
distance by using ultrasonic waves.
• The sensor head emits an ultrasonic wave and receives the wave reflected
back from the target. Ultrasonic Sensors measure the distance to the target
by measuring the time between the emission and reception.

(where L is the distance, T is the time

between the emission and reception, and C
is the sonic speed. (The value is multiplied by
1/2 because T is the time for go-and-return
distance.)
• Ultrasonic sensor uses SONAR to determine the distance of an object just
like the bats do. It offers excellent non-contact range detection with high
accuracy and stable readings in an easy-to-use package from 2 cm to 400 cm
or 1” to 13 feet.
SERVO
MOTOR
• Servo implies an error sensing feedback control which is utilized to correct
the performance of a system.
• They are actually DC motors whose speed is slowly lowered by the gears.
The servo motors usually have a revolution cutoff from 90° to 180°. A few
servo motors also have revolution cutoff of 360° or more. But servo motors
do not rotate constantly. Their rotation is limited in between the fixed angles.
• Servo motors were first used in the Remote Control (RC) world, usually to control
the steering of RC cars or the flaps on a RC plane. With time, they found their uses
in robotics, automation, and of course, the Arduino world.
 Most servo motors have the
following three connections:
•Black/Brown ground wire.

•Red power wire (around 5V).

•Yellow or White PWM wire.

APPLICATIONS
This Project has many Applications in Security and AV(Audio-Video) Alarm based System For:-
 Homes
 Shops
 Military Purpose
 Object Detection
 This sensor is used in thru beam detection for high speed counting.
 This sensor is used in robotic industry for robot sensing.
 This sensor is used in car parking system where car entry is controlled through barrier system, the
barrier must not be lowered when there is beneath a vehicle. This whole process is controlled through
ultrasonic sensor.
 This sensor is used in car manufacturing industry for manufacturing or assemble the car automatically.
 This sensor is used in car washing system for detecting and washing the car automatically.
 This sensor is used for detecting the speed of motor or generator.
 This sensor is also used in presence detection system.
 The ultrasonic sensor has high frequency, high sensitivity and high
penetrating power therefore it can easily detect the external or deep
objects.
 These sensors easily interface with microcontroller or any type of controller
 These sensors have greater accuracy then other methods for measuring the
thickness and depth of parallel surface.
 There sensors are easy to use, not dangerous during operation for nearby
objects, person, equipment or material.
 This sensor is not affected due to atmospheric dust, rain, snow etc.
 It can work in any adverse conditions.
 It has higher sensing distance (in centimeters and inches) compare to
inductive/capacitive proximity sensor types.
 It provides good readings in sensing large sized objects with hard surfaces.
 Cannot Work in Vacuum.
 Limited for underwater use.
 It has more difficulties in reading reflections
from soft, curved, thin and small objects.
 Sensing Accuracy affected by change in
Temperature.
 Have a limited detection range as a
prototype.
