Village Market
What?
• A circular structure of 30m span diameter is
an architectural and structural marvel with
various benefits to the environment and
society.
Uses
1) Market
The structure can be used as a market. The
entire span would be a covered place for the
market saving it from environmental effects
like rain, summer heat etc.
The circular structure open from all sides helps
in easy ventilation which is required for
market.

2) Accessibility
The structure has ramps along with stairs. Which
distributes the traffic.
Ramps can be used for carrying goods. It will
also make the structure accessible for senior
citizens.
3) Community hall
The structure can easily hold around 3000
people. Thus, it can be used as a community
hall. Various cultural events or wedddings can
be organised in the same.

4) Night shelter
The structure can be rented out in day and used
as a night shelter at night for homeless.
5) Rainwater Harvesting
The runoff collected from the ceiling can be
collected and used in dry season.
The water can be purified and distributed/sold
for drinking purpose.
The same water can be used for irrigation in dry
season.

6) Solar Panels
Solar panels can be installed and the generated
electricity can be used in the structure.
It can also be sold or sent to villages.
7) Employment
Manpower will be required for construction,
maintenance and working of the structure
which will result in employment generation.
People can even setup Shops/stalls in market/
exhibitions.
Estimated cost
• The average cost for construction is estimated
to be around Rs 550/sqft.
Sources of income
• The community centre can be used for weddings,
social events, gatherings, flee market etc. The
structure can be rented out for the same.
• LED Panels can be installed for advertising.
• The water collected through rainwater harvesting
can be purified sold for drinking. Maharashtra
receives average annual rainfall of 100 cm.
