What is Sleep Paralysis?
• “Orom”
• the state of being unable to move or speak
as one goes from being asleep to being
awake
• It occurs most often among adolescents
Statement of the Problem?
• What are the effects of Sleep Paralysis on
the daily activities of the students
affected with such?
• What are the manifestations of Sleep
Paralysis on the behaviour and
personalities of the students affected
with such?
• What are the coping mechanisms of the
students affected with Sleep Paralysis?
Significance of the Study
• The study will provide insights on sleep
paralysis that only the people who
experience it can provide
• The results of the study will provide a
deeper understanding of sleep paralysis and
will present information to those who
seek to know what sleep paralysis is
Scope and Delimitations
• The researchers are set to determine only its
effects and manifestations on behavior and
personality, as well as the coping mechanisms
that help the respondents deal with it
• An interview will be conducted to at most 3
students of Central Mindanao University
Laboratory High School, who are affected with
Sleep Paralysis and are aged 13-18, regardless of sex,
gender and religion.
How to do it?
• A Phenomenological approach will be used in
undertaking this study.
• Criterion sampling method will be used to
determine at most three (3) participants, aged 13-18
years old, regardless of age, gender and religion.
• The researchers will use a semi-structured
interview
• Data will be gathered through a face-to-face
interview and will be analyzed through
Hermeneutic analysis.
