Hydraulic Circuits

Problems
Problem. For the system shown in Figure bellow, what pump pressure is require if the cylinder loads are 500 Lbf each
and cylinder 1 has a piston area of 10 in2? The area of cylinder 2 must equal the difference between the areas of the
piston and rod for cylinder 1. it should be note that the pump must be capable of delivering a pressure equal to that
required for the piston of cylinder 1 by itself to overcome the loads acting on both cylinders. Note that P3 = 0 due to
the drain discharge line to tank. Neglect all losses.
Problem: For the fluid power system shown in the Figure bellow, determine the external load (F1and F2) that
each hydraulic cylinder can sustain while moving in the extending direction. Take fractional pressure losses
into account. The pump produce a pressure increase of 1000 psi from the inlet port to the discharge port and
a flow rate of 40 gpm (1 gal = 3.78541 L). The following data are applicable. The kinematic density is 0.001
ft2/s, specific weight is 50 Lbf/ft3. cylinder piston diameter is 8 in, cylinder rod diameter is 4 in and all elbows
are 90o with a k factor of 0.75. The pipe lengths and inside diameter are given as follows:
