Type 1 - Using verbs

▪ I like reading book.


▪ They go to campus on foot.
▪ She eats friend chicken almost every day.
▪ We went to Bali last month.
▪ He talked to the teacher yesterday.
▪ It ran quickly.
Type 2 - Using auxiliary verbs

▪ She is happy.
▪ He was a researcher.
▪ I am studying English now.
▪ You are sitting on the chair.
▪ They can dispense the medication very well.
▪ We will be a great pharmacist assistant.
▪ She has finished her report.
Notes:

▪ If you use to be and verb, there are two options: verb+ing


(continuous) or verb  verb 3 (passive).
Examples:
We are studying English.
The food was eaten by the cat.
▪ If you use modal auxiliary, you have to use verb and you must not
use to be.
Examples:
You will be a great doctor someday.
He will sleep soon after taking the drugs.
They are can swim well.

Rule #1

An English sentence must consist of at least A


SUBJECT and A VERB. If there is no verb, to be is
used as the replacement.
1. They go to campus everyday.
2. Yesterday, the medical faculty students got a
sudden test.
3. I was at campus last night.
4. She is a very nice doctor.
Rule #2

An English sentence must NOT have more than A


SUBJECT and A VERB without conjunction.
1. They are go to campus everyday.
2. Yesterday, the medical faculty students were got a
sudden test.
3. I was go at campus last night.
4. The doctor she is very nice to her patients.
Rule #3

The subject and the verb CAN BE separated by


phrase.
1. The book on the table near the lamp is mine.
2. A certain medicine without medical prescription
may be dangerous to a patient.
3. The students of Medical Faculty on the forth floor
are studying English.
