SERVICE HOUR PROJECT

ELDERLY HOME
• Beginning with the first service we had to do was to clean an popular
elderly home that was right up the street from the organization.
• We gave into this service for the elders because they had trouble
keeping their rooms clean and the staff was overloaded with work
creating a very hard environment to participate in. We helped the
workers prepare food for the elders to make sure they were perfect for
later that night and for the rest of the week
• Doing this service made me encounter Christ to help some elders who
cant move how they use to and
 .

The workers of the organization finally got a break for having to be on their
feet for 12 hours straight with no break helping them be able to relax and
beg for us not to leave. And I think the Elders got a sense that a new
generation of kids would love to help them and even have a conversation
because maybe some don’t have family that sees them too often.

But in other words this part of service that I did made me feel as
a bigger person
With World Vision we chose this operation for a plain reason and
that’s to help kids around the world who are not granted with
everything we have in life from; clothes, snacks, food, toys,
technology, etc.

In this service I began to think I encountered Christ a little early than

anyone else. And that’s when we were being lectured on what the
organization was for and when the brought up a picture of kid who
was starving I immediately began to feel a connection with Christ to
feel as if I was the bigger man helping send supplies to better ones
life who had nothing or close to nothing.

I began to load the boxes with supplies my heart felt as if it was in

ease and I was in peace and someone or something saying “I am
proud of you”
• The people that were getting out of the
service were the kids all over the world who
are able to get supplies from World Division
• Performing this service made me a better
man by helping others who are in poverty
• We chose this service to help out the littering downtown that
countless citizens throw away trash onto our beautiful city. We also
chose this because usually we see trash on the ground and pass it
up and we chose to do this to see if others would pick up trash and
we pasted through downtown and actually saw others picking up
trash.
• But doing this project I felt a very specific moment where I
encountered Christ is when we were cleaning an ally way picking
trash up and there was an homeless man who began to help out
and after we cleaned up the trash we got something to eat from
7/11 and the owner gave us free slushies and a free snack and
even the homeless man got something from the owner.

When we did this some people
got out of our service got a way
cleaner property, some
business’ gained a compliment
of how good their work place
was spotless.
However, when I performed this
service for the community
helped me feel as I was working
for others for the better. As if I
was making and bringing a
better environment to
encourage others to pick up
trash and clean the community
We chose this service project for a simple reason and that was to make sure
the community could have purified clean water and to prevent a mess to
happen to the river we cleaned and any other river in Pittsburgh.

Doing this service people of the community were able get purified
water and a cleaner river to have for fishing and getting a fresh new
start to wildlife in the river and animals that use the river.

But completing this task I felt as a bigger man due to helping others
than myself
• When cleaning the river the time that I felt Christ was when one of the
instructors told us that we were changing the community slowly but
surely we are taking baby steps to changing the world
