What is OSHA?

- Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994

- It is an act that make further provision for securing that safety, health and welfare of persons at
work, for protecting others against risks to safety or health in connection with teh activities of
persons at work, to establish the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health and matters
connected therewith.

- This act is enforce for person at work in all economic activities including public and statutory
authorities, EXCEPT on board ships or the Armed Forces.

- divided into 15 parts and 67 sections


ROLES OF ENGINEER (OSHA 1994)

1. Report the accidents, dangerous occurrences, occupational poisoning and diseases


 Report any accident or near accident case for reminder of others or improvement.

 Process and treat the dangerous equipment or diseases.

2. Provide information, instruction, training or supervision


 Adequete information on the safety given to the employees.

 Make sure employees wear and use PPE whenever doing job that might risky.

3. Regular check/inspection to the workplace


 Make sure arrangement in workplace in safe use in storage, transportation and operation.

 Make sure workplace has adequate welfare facilities, such as safety helmet.
