The Treasures

of Farfounet
By Maurice Jean
Farfounet is a boy who seems a bit mischievous and nosy. He lives

in Chateauroux, central France. He likes to collect things. Any object

that catches his attention along the way, he will keep it in his trousers’

pockets. His pockets are large and deep, looks so heavy and stuffed to

bursting. People think he was idling, that isn’t so. He has so many

extraordinary things to discover in the wide world.

Every single object that Farfounet has found is very useful for

helping people around. For example, when the teacher needs a hook,

Farfounet’s spring clothespin will do very well. Or when there is a nail

sticking out, Farfounet’s smooth stone will serve as a hammer. Even

though Farfounet's personality was strange and sometimes annoying, no

one hated him and considered his character to be kind and very good.

Especially with treasures in his pocket that make it a very valuable item.
Farfounet’s Hometown - Chateauroux
Chateauroux is an old town in central France’s Indre Department that was
founded in the 10th century around a castle that is still there today. There are
many history churches and the ruins of one of the largest medieval abbeys in
France. Close to the river, forms a nucleus around which a newer and more
extensive quarter, bordered by boulevards lie on the right bank of Indre River.
