Jackie Robinson broke baseball's color barrier and faced immense racism but overcame it with courage and talent. On April 15th, which is now celebrated as Jackie Robinson Day, he became the first black player in Major League Baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. His achievements helped advance racial equality and allowed people of any race, religion or nationality to play professional baseball. He endured threats and abuse but had support from teammates like Pee Wee Reese and helped change the game forever with his skills and determination.

My mind set. • I chose to do a Jackie Robinson day because he broke the color barrier in Major League baseball. He was very courageous and brave. Changing Baseball • Jackie Robinson changed baseball forever because he broke the color barrier therefor anyone of any race religion or nationality can play baseball now. He was the only black player on his team and in all of major league baseball at the time. Importance • This day would be very important to many people especially baseball fans and lovers. Not only was this day important to baseball but it was also another steps towards black being independent. Stay Strong • Jackie Robinson took a lot of heat for being a black baseball player, he got death threats hate notes and even people who said they would kill or hurt his family. This was just off the field on the field it was just has bad pitchers would purposely hit him in the head some teams refused to play against him and coaches and players would trash talk and make racist comments in games. Jackie staid strong and fought through all of this abuse and still managed to be one of the best players to ever play. Dodgers • The Brooklyn Dodgers played a huge role in Jackie Robinsons success they are the team that decided to bring in the first black baseball player. Without them we may have never had a black baseball player, we may never know. They also backed him up and helped through his struggles, some of the players may not have been so fond of him but they either got traded or got used to him. But Peewee Reese was the most important and helpful to Jackie he stood up for him and always had his back. Jackie Robinson • Jackie Robinson was not only the first black player but he was also a great baseball player he played 4 sports in collage and was an all American. He moved a lot of people and took a lot of heat, but all in all he changed baseball and it will never be the same. Hall of Fame • Jackie Robinson is in the Hall of Fame for his talents and bravery.
