WHY SAFETY IS
REQUIRED

 Construction site is very dangerous. This is the

is immeasurable and intolerable. Such loss or
injuries can create major loss to the families of
those employees.

INTRODUCTION
 Each and everyday of a construction site is very
dangerous.
 Accidents are more frequent at the end of the day so the
site should have good lighting.
 Small building jobs becomes more risky because of
ignorance.
 Light weight shoes and casual footwear are not suitable
for construction site. Safety shoe is very important for
Site workers .
 Safety Helmets , safety jackets ,safety boots and safety
belts can prevent injuries and even death.
 Site should keep tidy. Raw materials and waste materials
should keep properly and separately at different places.

CONSTRUCTION ACCIDENTS

 56% falls from height.

 21% trapped by something collapse.
 10% struck by moving vehicle.
 5% contact with electricity.
 4% struck by falling objects form height.

WORKING AT HEIGHT
 Using ladders or scaffolding without proper
fixing is very dangerous.
 Make sure there are hand rail and toe boards at
all edges and safety nets under the platforms.
 Workers should use safety belts while working
on scaffolds.
 Things can fall on site, labours should wear
safety helmet.
 Before start work at height check for clearance
from any overhead power lines.
SLIDE NO. 7

ROOF SAFETY
 Always inspect a roof before you walk on it.
 You must have guard rails to stop you from falling
off the edge.
 You must use proper safety harnesses and
running cables when working on top of a roof.

Remember : a walk along a fragile roof could be very

dangerous.

EXCAVATION WORK
 Allexcavation is deeper than 1.25 meters must
be shored.
 Excavation deeper than 2 meters must have
guard rail or barrier.
 Vehicles working too close to side of the trench
may cause collapse.
 Make sure the excavation is inspected daily.
 Make sure you know where any underground
pipes,before you hit it.
 Trench side can collapse without warning.
SLIDE NO. 9

CRANE SAFETY
 The weight of the load must be carefully
estimated.
 The crane must always work on a hard base.
 The load must be properly fixed and secured.
 The crane operator must be properly trained.
 The signalman must be trained to give clear
signal.
SLIDE NO. 10

ELECTRICITY
 Work carefully with electricity.
 Check constantly that cables are not
damaged.
 Keep cables away from water.
 Never overload plugs or fuses.
 Always take care that powered cables
are not open.

PPE(Personal Protective Equipment)

Most construction site require at
least some protective equipment
which are the following -
 Hard Hat.
 Safety Boots.
 Safety Jackets.
 Safety
Glasses.

followed in any construction work to
prevent any kind of mishap during the
construction process.
