TMI Rerate Project

December 2012
What is the Rerate Project?

Original test spec value built at Caterpillar

Rerated product as reported by Global Label Printing

System (GLPS), Feature Protection System (FPS) or As
Shipped Invoice
Prior to this change, TMI built tabs only for
the original factory test spec.

Rerate project will allow the user to pick

between the factory spec versus the rerated
Specs and build the tabs tied to that spec.
The new look and feel

TMI dynamically builds the tabs based on

the test spec and includes the data in
containers.

The containers are either Factory Spec, As

Shipped Invoice, or Re Rated
Tab Detail Example

As you can see the performance data tab is different. Why,

Because the test spec changed. The related performance number

changed

DM4919 – Factory Spec

DM4927 – Rerated Product
Tab Detail
Tabs colored yellow are identical between
containers.

Depending on how TMI searches or builds

each tab determines if you will find new
data related to the rerate.
Example How As Shipped Rerate
is Determined

On the As Shipped Tab and prior to

clicking any breakdown link is the actual
invoice from the engine orders system
(EOMP). Within the invoice, a new test
spec was found. 0K8532.

The invoice is after the factory setting and

is considered an As shipped rerate.
Example of All Three Containers

For SN WYB00169, we have an

example using all three containers.
Factory Spec, As Shipped and Re Rated.

Data sources:
Factory Spec = Actual Factory
As Shipped = EOMP Invoice
Re Rated = GLPS or FPS
* Note if both GLPS and FPS has data
TMI uses GLPS and ignores FPS
Three Container Example
Factory Spec = 0K9264
As Shipped = 0K8532
Re Rated = 0k9264

Think in sequence or time of events, the

product was tested using 0K9264 at the
factory, a dealer/customer ordered the
product and included 0k8532 test spec,
and once in the field reset the product to
0K9264
FAQ
• Q1. If the product is rerated multiple times will TMI have this information?
• A1. No, TMI does not capture multiple updates from GLPS or FPS. The system will simply pull the latest data from
the source systems.

• Q2. If the product is rerated will TMI have the parts consist?
• A2. No, the TMI team is unaware of any system that contains the physical parts consist for rerated products. TMI does
have the original as shipped as engineered consist and in some cases the as manufactured consist as reported from the
factory.

• Q3. What is a container.

• A3. A container simply contains related data. In the case of factory spec, re rated, or as shipped the related data is
placed in a container. You can choose which container to view. Prior to this change, you would be presented only
factory spec data.

• Q4. Why is an engine rerated?

• A4. Usually, a customer requests an update and the dealer implements.

Every effort will be made to improve and correct system issues as quickly as possible.
