Short-track isa
form of
competitive ice
skating. The first
competition took
place in 1992
during the Winter
Olimpics.
 This kind of sports was
born in the United States
and Canada. However, the
countries from Europe
have positive influence to
develop it.
 Skating around a track
at close to 60 km/h is
very risky. The skater
is a risk taker because
he likes a dangerous
situations.
 The track on a rink is a
small. It has a 111
metre. Around the rink
must be protective
mats. Thanks to it, the
skater has protection
during crashing at high
speeds.
 In world championship competition, men and
women skate four distances: 500, 1,000, 1,500 and
3,000 and relay races. The competition lasts three
days.
 Short track is a one of the most popular winter
sports in Canada, South Korea and The
Netherlands.
 The skater can burn
almost 900 calories
during training. It is
good for you if you want
to lose of weigth.
Morover, this form of
skating can help to build
the leg muscles.
