1/ What are Relative Clauses?
Relatives Clauses or Adjectives Clauses
are the part of the sentence that used for
explain more clearly the noun that stand
before.
2/ Relative Pronouns and Relative Adverbs
a/ Relative pronouns
WHO WHOM
It’s used as a Subject for the preceded It’s used as an Object for the preceded

EX: She is my sister , she spoke to you yesterday. EX: She is my sister , you spoke to her yesterday.

It’s used as a Subject or an Object for the preceded it's used as a Possessive Subject or Object for the preceded

EX: Look at that dog , it’s digging in the garbage EX: He is Mr.Johnson , His dogs digged my garbage

HAVE TO NOT HAVE TO

+ After these numerical order words: The only, the first,
the last.
+ In the unknown clause
+ When the preceded noun contain person and thing.
+ After the uncertain pronoun, negative pronoun and

b/ Relative adverbs
WHERE
It’s used as a Subject or Object for the preceded place
noun.

EX: I went to DaLat yesterday, It’s so beautiful!!


=> I went to DaLat yesterday where is so beautiful!!

I love Hue so much, I went there once.


=> I love Hue so much WHERE i went there once.
WHEN
It’s used as a Subject or Object for the preceded time noun.

EX: April is coming, i am least busy in this month.


=> April is coming when i am least busy.

Every 7 A.M morning, i have to go to school.


=> Every 7 A.M morning when i have to go to school.
WHY
It’s used for the reasons ( susually goes with “the reason” )

EX: That’s the reason, i don’t espect him anymore.


=> That’s the reason why i don’t espect him anymore.
3/ Kind of relative clauses
a/ defining relative clause b/ non-defining relative clauses

Defining relative clause is used to Non-defining clause is used to supply more
