This mini PowerPoint is on the wonders of employee monitoring
software. First, what is monitoring software? It is an application that you download to your computer to supervise the processes and activities being done on your device. It basically monitors the stuff being done on your computer. Employee monitoring software is for business to check not only clock ins and clock outs but also the productivity of each employee. WHO WOULD USE THIS AND WHY? There are many people who would choose to use this software for many different reasons. One in particular are employers. Employers might use this monitoring software to keep track of what their employees are doing an to see if the work that needs to be done is completed. Monitoring software is especially helpful to managers and employers of large companies. They don’t have the time to go around and check every computer do with the software they can monitor everything being done at one time. IS THIS LEGAL? ETHICAL?
In Canada employee monitoring software is not illegal as long as it doesn’t
break the rules of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act which protects the privacy of all employees. In my opinion this is ethical as long as it’s used properly. Employers have the right to make sure the work they need done is getting done and employee monitoring software helps with that. As long as the employers don’t use it to peep into personal email or information of their employees, this technology is ethical.
