ASSIGNMENTS MCH230 PUBLIC RELATIONS CASE STUDIES Individual Presentation (10%)
Everyone will be assigned to present and
summarize a journal that they have analyzed during class. Each person will be delegated to present each week starting next week. Each student can only present up to 5 presentation slides ONLY. Email me your slides before your presentation to asil.g@help.edu.my The dates will be given during consultation tomorrow from 1030am-130pm (May 29) Individual Assignment 1 (20%) You will be assigned a case on which they will write an analysis from the PR Cases textbook. This analysis paper (up to 5 pages ONLY) will address what your theoretical approach to public relations would say about the case and demonstrate what a practitioner working from your perspective by answering the questions that is attached to each case. I will grade you on your knowledge of the material, how well you engage with the material you have researched, how far beyond the case you take the discussion and how well you apply the principles of PR to your particular case. Due on Week 6 (submit during Monday’s class) Group Assignment (20%) This assignment is to further familiarize yourselves with Smith’s ROPE (Research, Objectives, Programming, Evaluation) process of public relations planning. You will explore how real-life public relations program/campaign that have either applied or not applied this process. Apart from that, you will have a chance to practice your planning skills by considering what you would have done differently to improve the case you study. You will also produce guidelines and lessons learned for the public relations function your case exemplifies. Due on Week 7 (submit report during Thursday’s class) Present your findings on Week 7 CONTENT OF GROUP ASSIGNMENT 1. Introduction (in-depth analysis of a public relations program/campaign) 2. How the existing public relations program/campaign that have either applied or not applied the ROPE process 3. Provide combination of guidelines and lessons learned for the public relations function your case exemplifies 4. Consider what you would have done differently to improve the case that you studied.
