As part of the school’s agenda of keeping the good communication
between the parents and the school, our communication journal is our
simple way on how to keep in touch with you, our dear parents.

In here, we, as the teachers of your child, put all the announcements,
our concerns and the weekly schedules for you to know what is
happening and what are the new updates in our school and to your
child as well. Furthermore, if you have also concerns, feel free to write it
in your child’s journal.

Hence, the purpose of our writing journal is to help your child to

enhance his/her grammar, spelling and vocabulary skills in writing. Also
it can help them to communicate using the English language well.

Curriculum
The subject areas offered here are the learning areas that the 1st to 3rd
Grades students must learn for the whole Academic Year. They are as
follows:

• Values, ICT, Singapore Math, English, History, Filipino, Mother Tongue,

Science and MAPEH.
School-wide Learning Expectations

This entails all the expected topics to be

taught in each quarter per learning areas.
Quizzes, Tests, PT, and Exams
• Quizzes - usually all objective types of tests with 10 to 20 items
per quiz

• Performance tasks - usually experienced-based activities that

enhance students’ talents and capabilities and are graded
under performance tasks. It can be individual or group-based
activities

• Midterm Examination - every 5th week of a quarter

• Quarter Examination - usually taken every end of each grading

period
Grading
Here at Bixby Knolls Preparatory Academy , we use
the same grading system that is nationally
implemented by the Department of Education under
DepEd Order no. 8.

The grading system was divided into three (3) major

categories namely as written works, performance
tasks, and quarterly test or examination.
The percentage allotment in each categories
depends upon the learning areas.
