INTRODUCTION

According to Griffiths (2018), the use of social networking sites has become the
cornerstone of modern communication and connection as it allows users to
create a sense of belonging and redefined their way of being.

Based on Walker (2018), a social networking addiction could be considered

someone with a compulsion to use social media to constantly checking social
media.
The increasing popularity of smartphones these days has lead to the
growing rate of internet addiction across the globe, and now also in
Japan. The growth of social media addiction in Japan is also in part or
result of people relieving their psychological stress rather than
confessing to professional psychotherapist (Japan Info, 2015).
Based on ABS-CBN (2018), the Philippines emerged as the country that
spent the most time on social media, according to a report by creative
agency We are Social and Social media management platform Hoot suite. An
average Filipino social media user spends almost 4 hours on different
platforms daily followed by Brazillian and Indonesians, respectively, the
report said.
In Davao City majority are logged on their Facebook accounts
checking on notifications or browsing through their walls; many
are looking at photos in Instagram others on Twitter, or watching
something in Youtube, and others either browsing or surfing
through worldwide web.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

1). What are the factors that causes social media addiction to the students?

2.) What are the perceptions of the students about social media addiction?

3.) What are the advantages of using social media as a student?

 METHODS

Presented in this chapter is the methodology used to answer the

research question posed.

Research Design
The researcher employed Qualitative Research method which is the
researcher will provide Questionnaire to know in this study the factors that
causes addiction in using social media among Grade 11 students in Sta. Ana
Senior High School.
 For this research the researcher presented a case study design.

Participants
The participants of this study will be the Grade 11 students who
are addicted in using social media and students who are using any kind of
social media in Sta. Ana Senior High School.
Sampling Design

The researchers will use Questionnaires in order to determine the

causes of addictions in social media to collect data from the participants.
The respondents will only encircle the letters according to their
corresponding answers.

Research Instrument

The research instrument is made through Survey Questionnaire. The

researcher prepared the questionnaire to be distributed to the respondents.
The questionnaire will be just checked according to their corresponding
answers.
Data Gathering Procedure

The researcher will use Unstructured Interviews to know or find out more about
the Factors that causes social media addiction among the students.

The researcher will ask a permission to the School Authorities especially the
Principal of the administration and the teachers to conduct a study.

The researcher will ask the participants to write some of the things that they
usually do having social media.

We will be having interviews in unstructured form to record the data given by the
participants.
Data Analysis

The researcher will use Unstructured Interviews to know or find out more
about the Factors that causes social media addiction among the students.
