The next day again, John (the Baptist) was standing with two of his disciples
when Jesus passed by.
John looked towards him and said, “There is the Lamb of God.”
The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus.
When he turned and saw them following him,
He asked, “What are you looking for?” They said, “Rabbi”
(which means Teacher) “Where are you staying?”
“Come and see, “ he replied.
So they went and saw where he was staying, and spent the rest of
the day with him. It was then about four in the afternoon.
One of the two followed Jesus after hearing what John (the Baptist) said
was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
The first thing he did was to find his brother Simon.
He said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which is Hebrew for Christ).
He brought Simon to Jesus who looked hard at him and said,
“You are Simon, son of John.
You shall be called Cephas” (that is, Peter the Rock).

The Resurrection
MARK 16: 1-8
1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother
of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint
Jesus' body. 2 Very early on the first day of the week, just after
sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb 3 and they asked each
other, "Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the
tomb?" 4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which
was very large, had been rolled away. 5 As they entered the tomb,
they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right
side, and they were alarmed. 6 "Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are
looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He
is not here. See the place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his
disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There
you will see him, just as he told you.' " 8 Trembling and bewildered,
the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to
anyone, because they were afraid. 9 When Jesus rose early on the
first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of
whom he had driven seven demons. 10 She went and told those who
had been with him and who were mourning and weeping
11 When they heard that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him,
they did not believe it. 12 Afterward Jesus appeared in a different form
to two of them while they were walking in the country. 13 These
returned and reported it to the rest; but they did not believe them
either. 14 Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he
rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to
believe those who had seen him after he had risen. 15 He said to them,
"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not
believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those
who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak
in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and
when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will
place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." 19 After the
Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat
at the right hand of God. 20 Then the disciples went out and preached
everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word
by the signs that accompanied it.

Prayer
For every petition we pray:
Then, I remember…
When, one time, my mother got angry with me and
said, “you should not have been born. When I learned about
you, I attempted abortion. But it was a failure.”
Another friend shared with me …
That when he was born, his father was by his
mother’s side all the time. When he came out, there were
tears of joy and he was held long in a warm embrace.
Then, I remember…
When I was born, my father was away. I met him when I
was already four years old. Then he left again. My auntie, who
has been like a mother to me, said that my mother also had a
hard time staying by my side because as soon as she recovered
from giving birth, she had to go back to work. We needed
money, we had to live.
I had a playmate …
Who always had new clothes and toys. She also
brought chocolates and goodies, which made me enjoy.
She had older brothers and sisters who always took care of
her and made it a point that she was safe and in good
health.
Then, I remember…
I got sick because I did not changed my T-shirt that got
wet from the rain. It was because I had no more cleaned clothing
left than that one, besides, I had only two or three of it. That
time, I was also hungry, the reason for my low resistance to
sickness. Food was scarced at home. My brothers and sisters were
hungry, too. My mother was always out working for a living.
My classmate …
Shared with me how he was loved in the family.
Whenever he committed a mistake, his parents talked to
him and allowed him to explain his side. He was taught to
apologize and make up for his mistakes. Feeling secured
and assured of the love of his family members, he learned
to accept his mistakes while being helped to correct them
in the process.
Then, I remember…
My mother hit me whenever I committed a mistake. At
six, my father came back home. He realized it was hard to
assume the role of a father after being away for long. He was so
impatient. One time when I was noisy and broke the glass beside
him, he spanked me, hit me with his belt and locked me in the
cabinet where I spent the night crying.
My best friend …
Had a fight with another friend because of
misunderstanding. The two of them knew each other quite
well. They have shared secrets and confided to each other
about family concerns. My best friend came from a family
where forgiveness is a rule. In their house, they were not
allowed to sleep with unsettled issue. Any conflict should
be settled before going to bed. Apologies must be made
before the sun rises again. Recognizing her wrong-doing
and making them right became a way of life for her.
My other friend, however, never had an experience
of dialogue and forgiveness at home. She was not exposed to
a better way but defending oneself and fighting it out. She
was always blamed for the wrong things that she has done.
Often, she was punished hard for them. She grew more
defensive and hard with herself because the people around
her treated her the same.
In the case of her fight with my best friend, she
manifested the same manner of dealing with conflict. She
did a lot of back-talking instead of engaging in dialogue.
She was projecting everything to her opponent and to those
whom she can blame for what she is now – defensive,
angry, insecure, etc.
Then, I remember…
I also got in conflict with a friend the other day. I
wanted to reconcile and reach out. But my pride got in the
way. Instead, I tried justifying my actions even if I knew I
was really wrong. I was afraid to admit my mistake. I was
so afraid of rejection and of not being loved for what I am
afterwards. I wanted to reach out in love. But was not
even sure if my love is right or enough.
Yesterday, while I was at prayer, I reflected on these
almost extreme experiences of mine and those that I heard
from others. Theirs were pleasant and loving memories,
while mine are the opposite. I asked the Spirit of God to be
with me and guide me in my questions. As I prayed, I found
myself in the presence of Jesus. I sat close beside Him. He
invited me to come closer. He held me in the hands and
then put his right arm on my shoulder.
I asked Jesus how come I had painful experiences
while the others had pleasant memories. Jesus held me
tighter while he spoke, “When you were conceived, your
Mom wanted to abort you, but I did not allow it. I held you
tight in her womb. When you were born, your father was
not there, but I sent a good and charitable doctor and
nurses who took care of you and did not charge your
mother of their services.
Your uncle also heard my call to be there with your
auntie who attended to you while your mother was at
work. I also inspired your playmates to share their food
and toys with you. There were also others who chose on
their own to make friends with you. I sent them all to you
so that you may realize how much I love you. “Jesus
continued to narrate many more events of my life when He
was there to share his love. They were all true. Many
times, I did not recognize him in the events, but later on,
everything and everybody, whether bad or good, joyful
and painful, I found them meaningful and worth thanking
God for.
At this point, Jesus gave me a tight embrace and
whispered: Remember, I am with you. I have called you
by name, you are mine (Isaiah 43:1). I have saved you
from death because I love you. Live in my Life. Dwell and
feel the love of my Heart. Someday, after you have
finished your mission, I will still be there for you, I will be
with you forever”. He then stood up and disappear, but
His presence, I felt just the same. Now I know that He is
always with me as He has promised.
Finally, I remember the last scene before I found
myself in Jesus’ presence. I was then seated in the chapel
when I felt a deep pain in my chest. I felt dizzy and lost
consciousness. That was the time I found myself in the
presence of Jesus.
Then a doctor approached me and said with a face full of
awe and wonder. “It is indeed unbelievable that you came back
to life. Someone found you dead in the chapel. You were dead
for sometime. It’s an extraordinary miracle when suddenly, you
start breathing again. It’s a new life. Remember, you are a
miracle!”

Hope in God; I will praise yet again my savior and my God.

Jesus went out again beside the sea; the whole crowd
gathered around him, and he taught them. As he was
walking along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax
booth, and he said to him, “Follow me”. And he got up and
followed him. And as he sat at dinner in Levi’s house, many
tax collectors and sinners were also sitting with Jesus and
his disciples—for there were many who followed him. When
the scribes of the Pharisees saw that Jesus was eating with
sinners and tax collectors, they said to his disciples, “Why
does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” When Jesus
heard this, he said to them, “Those who are well have no
need of a physician, but those who are sick; I have come to
call not the righteous but sinners.”
