GROSS ANATOMY
o Breast is made up of :
*Skin * Superficial fascia *Mammary gland

o Both sexes have breasts. Larger in mature

women.
o Site: extend from 2nd to 6th rib and from
lateral margin of sternum to midaxillary line.
o It axillary tail extend to the axilla.

• Low dose x ray examination of breast.
• Used to investigate women over 40 years with
breast symptom and who at risk.

• Main abnormal finding are:

– Masses
– Microcalcifications
– Distortion
– Parenchymal asymmetry
