WHY? WHY? WHY?

 Compound Words are everywhere!

 You use compound words when you


write!

 You see them when you read!


ladybug
This is a Compound Word!

Put together 2 words to create a new word.

lady + bug = ladybug


Helpful Hint

If you can draw a picture for each word, then


it’s a great compound word.

lady + bug = ladybug


More Compound Words:
 Sun + shine  sunshine

 Sun + rise  sunrise

 Cow + girl  cowgirl

 Cow + boy  cowboy

Using 3 words, create two compound words:

•bell, door, knob  doorbell OR doorknob

•fish, gold, star  goldfish OR starfish

•ball, flake, snow snowball OR snowflake
