Bustillo, Aurea Jireh Ronquillo, Ronelyn Badayos, April Salon, Carmena
At the end of this lesson, the PC students
are expected to:
• Convey ideas through oral, audio-visual, and/or web based
presentations for different target audiences in local or global
settings using appropriate registers; and
• Adopt awareness of audience and context in presenting ideas.
Introduction
In the contexts of student's life, Technology now is an integral part in
how he navigates through his practical life and his school work. It is
now an understatement to say that young people live and breathe
technology from the time they wake up to sometimes the wee hours
of the morning still tinkering with their gadgets.

This lesson will not focus on how Technology has invaded the social
life of young people, but rather on how it dramatically changed how a
student deal with school activities and projects and even other things.
Creating a Multimodal Text
Creating multimodal texts means the production of spoken,
written, or texts in print or digital forms. It is the business of
making meanings with the use of technology. This means
that the ways by which students communicate has extended
to the utilization images, animations, gestures, and spoken
and written language.
A multimodal text can be a paper. Examples of these are books,
comics, posters and the like meant to be read and understand
while holding or looking at them. It can also be digital such as slide
presentations, blogs or vlogs, web pages, short films, videos, media
campaigns, or anything that capitalizes on digital technology. A
multimodal text can be performed live through interpretative
dance, a monologue, a role play, among other ways that are
executed in front of an audience. Lastly, multimodal text can be
transmedia where messages are conveyed through a combination
of multimedia platforms.
A media campaign for example can be performed live on stage,
uploaded to social media, broadcasted live over the radio, and
printed on the school paper as well. These media extensions are
now possible if your intention is to reach out a bigger audience and
make an impact to your immediate community, or to the much
bigger online citizens of the world. Transmedia just have that
capacity to make simples stories be understood and interpreted
differently, and ultimately, if your message is truly compelling,
inspire audiences.
To successfully create a multimodal text, you are required to
consider a few things-your purpose, your message, your reader,
your viewer and your listener. Purpose means what you want to
achieve with your text such as to inform, to inspire or to elicit
action. Your message is contained in the actual text you compose.
Readers may mean fellow students, parents, teachers or whoever
you think you will appreciate your message. If your work is in a
form of video or live presentation, then you will have to think of
who to appeal to for your viewer/s. When you have a song/jingle
for your projects, who are your target listeners?
