WHAT IS URBAN FORM?

The spatial pattern or arrangement of individual element


such as building, streets, parks and other landuses, as well
as the social groups, economic activities, and public
institutions, with in an urban area, are recognised as the
urban form.
WHAT IS URBAN STRUCTURE?

Urban structure is the arrangement of land use in


urban areas. Sociologists, economists, and geographers
have developed several models, explaining where
different types of people and businesses tend to exits
with in the urban setting.

A linear city can develop main traffic co-oridors along the


length with feeder routes by bus. This type of urban form
is also knows as ‘ribbon development’, characterized by
concentration of development along both sides major
transportation routes such as road, navigable river etc.

Radial and circumferential pattern is more suitable for bus
operation as routing can be flexible. The radials from the major
arterials which can be served by rail or bus. A linear city can
develop main traffic corridors along the length with feeder
