COMMUNICATION MODEL

Communication models are the

methaporical, simplified and
systematic representation of the
communication processes which
forms general perspectives on
communication
Types of Communication Models

TRANSACTIONAL MODEL

INTERACTIVE MODEL
LINEAR MODEL
Linear Model
LINEAR MODEL

In linear model, communication is considered

one way process where sender is the only
one who sends message and receiver
doesn't give feedback or response. The
message signal is encoded and transmitted
through channel in presence of noise. The
sender is more prominent in linear model of
communication
LINEAR MODEL

KEY FEATURES:

• One way communication

• Used for mass communication
• Senders send messages and recievers only recieve
• No feedback
• Concept of noise
LINEAR MODEL

PROS: CONS:
• Communication is not
• Good at audience continuous as no
persuasion and concept of feedbacks
propaganda setting • No way to know if
• Intentional results communication was
effective

INTERACTIVE MODEL

Interactive Model of Communication.

Interactive model (also known as
convergence model) deals with exchange of
ideas and messages taking place both ways
from sender to receiver and vice-versa. The
communication process take place between
humans or machines in both verbal or non-
verbal way.
INTERACTIVE MODEL

KEY FEATURES:

• Used for new communication like internet

• Slower feedback in turns
• Concept of field of experience
• Known as convergence model
• Communication becomes linear if reciever does not
respond
INTERACTIVE MODEL

PROS: CONS:
• Feedback can take a
• Feedback even in mass very long time
communication • Sender and reciever
• New communication might not know who the
channels other person is
INTERACTIVE MODEL
Transactional
Model
TRANSACTIONAL MODEL

Transactional model of communication is the

exchange of messages between sender and
receiver where each take turns to send or
receive messages. ... The model is mostly
used for interpersonal communication and is
also called circular model of
communication.
TRANSACTIONAL MODEL

KEY FEATURES:

• Used for interpersonal communication

• Senders and recievers interchange roles
• Simultaneous feedback
• Context of environment and noise
• Feedback is taken as a new message
TRANSACTIONAL MODEL

PROS: CONS:
• Encourages non-verbal
• Simultaneous and communication
instant feedback • More noise due to
• No discrimination communicators talking
between sender and at the same time
reciever
