INFORMATION LITERACY
• a basic human right
• a means to empower people in all walks of life
to seek, evaluate, use, and create information
effectively to achieve their personal, social,
occupational, and educational goals
• the path to development, prosperity, freedom
and social inclusion in all nation
INFORMATION LITERACY
• Refers to ability to know when there is a need
for more information and the ability to locate
,evaluate, and use the right information
according to that need.
MEDIA LITERACY
• A person’s ability to critically consume,
understand, analyse, evaluate and produce any
type of media.
TECHNOLOGY LITERACY
• A person’s ability to effectively use technology
tools.

Category 1: Information literacy

1. The student who is information literate accesses


information efficiently and effectively.
2. The student who is information literate evaluates
information critically and competently.
3. The student who is information literate uses
information accurately and creatively.
Category 2: Independent learning

4. The student who is an independent learner is


information literate and pursues information
related to personal interests.
5. The student who is an independent learner is
information literate and appreciates literature and
other creative expressions of information.
6. The student who is an independent learner is
information literate and strives for excellence in
information seeking and knowledge generation.

1. Authority is constructed and contextual.
This means that the information literate
individual is able to evaluate the legitimacy and
credibility behind a piece of information.

2.Information creation as a process.


This means that the information literate
individual is able to evaluate not only the content
of the information but also the process involved
in creating this content.
3. Information has value.

This means that the information literate


realizes that even though information can be
accessed for free, it has many forms of value.
Consumer data is a type of information that has
commodity value.
