• Clark’s Flower Shop is a company that had been in the flowerbusiness

since 1976. It had founded and owned by Bob and DeeClark with
represents their vision to put fresh flower in everyone’shouses. They
were a cut flower retailer since 11 years ago and theyalso provided
the services Green House and Garden Center, BeddingPlants and
retail “bucket shop”. The company had been located atOxford Street,
Whitstable, Kent in the Newtown.
1.What factors underlie the traditional
wholesalers role in the marketing
channels of the floral products ?
When retail florists need a reliable way to get huge inventories of floral
products, they turn to the traditional wholesaler. These wholesalers provide
these retailers with a vast selection of products. Usually the flowers are
shipped to the wholesaler, and the wholesaler can then repackage the product
and provide the needed assortments and sizes that the retailer needs.
2.Have these factors changed significantly in
the twenty first century?
• Yes they have. In this day and age, both retailers and consumers are
able to buy directly from the flower growers themselves, either
through a phone conversation, or through an actual broker via the
internet or other middle man resellers.
• 3. I think as of right now, the traditional wholesaler should still
continue to be a part of the floral marketing channels. Reason being
that even though things continue to change, wholesalers still remain
a vital part of the floral business. This has been proven true, that even
though technology has evolved in the last 20 years, the need for
traditional wholesalers still exists. However, as technology continues
to evolve and change throughout time, then the wholesaler itself
might eventually disintermediate from the channels. As for right now,
I think traditional wholesalers should continue, but the future is not
set in stone, and anything can happen.
